wpe13.jpg (10185 bytes)Morabito Consultants, Inc.'s strength lies in design and analysis of unique structural problems. Our office has designed an adjustable platform for the testing of lawnmowers for the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as an adjustable scaffold system which was used to coat the inside of a concrete digester in the water treatment plant in Backriver - Baltimore County, Maryland. Our office has extensive design experience using aluminum and stainless steel. A few examples are the aluminum railings at Towsontown Center Mall, and The Promenade Condominium Complex in Rockville, Maryland, and the design of stainless steel platform and motor driven process equipment at Barre National. In addition, our office has utilized its extensive knowledge of structures and computer programs to perform three-dimensional analysis of building structures to complete an aesthetic, economical design which meets the owner's budget, as well as satisfy the strict aesthetic requirements of the project. Such examples are the new sanctuary at Brown Memorial Church in Baltimore City, Maryland, which involved curved plate girders and concrete filled tube columns, as well as the new Fine Arts Center at Roland Park Country School.

Morabito Consultants, Inc.'s knowledge of building structures has led us to perform preliminary analysis on new construction systems such as supporting concrete floors and composite bar joists on wood stud bearing walls, which have proven to be a very economical alternative to conventionally wood framed floors. Our office's knowledge of geotechnical engineering has led us to often suggest alternative foundation systems to save the owner and contractor time and money. Our knowledge of deep foundation systems has resulted in our office being awarded the re-design of numerous building foundations, including the landside Terminal and Tunnel at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport.

Morabito Consultants, Inc.'s structural design also involves the repair and restoration of various structural bridge and building systems. Our office has experience in restoration of pedestrian bridges at Towson State University, as well as the structural repair for various parking garages located in Baltimore, Harford and Howard Counties. Morabito Consultants, Inc.'s repair experience also extends to masonry preservation and repair. These include the restoration of historic buildings such as the University of Maryland Professional Building and Penn Street Parking Garage in Baltimore City, Maryland, as well as the repair of the Investment Building Hi-Rise Office Tower in Towson, Maryland , and the entire building complex at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Inc.

Due to our office's extensive knowledge of building structures, Morabito Consultants, Inc. is often asked to evaluate existing buildings for various owners and prospective buyers. Examples of such projects include the warehouses at 8901/8933 Yellow Brick Road, as well as the 1.2 million square foot Wards Complex on Monroe Street in Baltimore City. Maryland. Such evaluations include the structural systems, as well as the architectural walls, code, and roof systems to advise the prospective buyers of the limitations of these existing facilities. These evaluations often include the review of these structures to meet the present ADA requirements as well as other code revisions made since the original construction of these buildings.

Morabito Consultants, Inc.'s consulting services have also extended into the area of Forensic Testing where we have acted as an "expert witness" on several projects. Two examples are the analysis of a collapsed 40 foot high unbraced masonry wall at 305 Bond Street in Baltimore City, Maryland, and the analysis of an existing elastomeric waterproofing membrane and badly cracked poured in place reinforced/post-tensioned concrete structure called the Lenox Club in Fairfax, Virginia.

Morabito Consultants, Inc.'s staff of 15 structural engineers (8 registered, 3 of whom are principals in the firm) along with 7 experienced "Cadd" draftsmen and 2 inspectors yearly perform services on over 400 projects, with annual constuction value in excess of $500 million. Of these yearly projects, approximately 150 projects involve renovation/repair of existing concrete, steel, wood and masonry structures. All of these projects are managed by a principal of the firm who assures that all aspects of the design solution are properly addressed. Our office's cooperative attitude amongst its employees and with clients, along with our superior service and quality control program, allows Morabito Consultants, Inc. to complete all of our assignments on time - even if they are fast-tracked!

Morabito Consultants, Inc. has a long list of satisfied clients, 90% of which return for future projects.
